The worst HDI in Brazil

The island of Marajó is located in the state of Pará in northern Brazil, a region that, unfortunately, is marked by a lot of poverty. One of its cities (Melgaço) has an HDI (Human Development Index) of only 0.418, making it the worst in the country.

Due to the condition of extreme poverty, an excessive amount of cases of child sexual exploitation has been reported in the press and on social media, and was recently reported in a CNN article in February of this year.

But in the midst of this whole situation, for some years now, we, at PAZ International, have been working to bring the gospel and transformation to this region!

We are currently active in the community of Vila de Corcovado, holding services and life groups, and in the Antônio Lemos District, specifically on the Tajapurú River. We also have 17 life groups in the city of Breves and are starting a new project in the Nova Breves neighborhood.

Our missionary journey has encountered many challenges, but also so many victories. Lives are being transformed by the power of the gospel every day!

We count on your support and prayers! Ask the Lord to continue to pour out His grace on our lives so that we may take this life–transforming Gospel message to more and more families.
